In Mexico City again!

 Thursday January 16, 2020

We love visiting Mexico City. And it's about the only place I've found that I actually love in January, which happens to be my normally heinous birthday month. So taking advantage of the Martin Luther King Jr Federal Holiday, we booked our rooms at the Hilton Reforma, used some frequent flyer miles for our airline tickets, and husband, brother-in-law, and I were back in Mexico City for the long weekend!

From home to the Hilton Reforma, even with a layover in Houston, took only about 5 hours. At check-in, our rooms weren't ready, so we went to El Cardenal for lunch. We didn't want to eat too much because we had an early dinner reservation at Contramar.

After our delicious lunch, we walked over to our "local" Tio Pepe's Cantina and had our first margaritas of the trip. The bartender and waiters welcomed us back and even remembered brother-in-law's drink preference.

We took the long way back to the Hilton.

We stopped at the Circle K for inexpensive bottled water--an essential thing in this city.

Our room was pretty but this was the view. And we didn't like it.

We called the desk and shortly after had keys to a much better located room. We settled in and got ready for our first time at Contramar which we'd heard raves about.

Uber is so easy and inexpensive in CDMX! We were delivered to the restaurant a couple of minutes before our reservation (515pm, I think). The dining room was full. The staff were attentive. And everything was delicious. We will return!

After dinner, we ubered back to Tio Pepe's for our nightcaps.

And marveled at this view before going to bed.

It was a perfect start to our trip!

Next: Museo Dolores Olmedo and San Angel
